Missing Girl, Sharlinie, 5 years old

PETALING JAYA: A young girl went missing yesterday in Taman Medan, two days after another girl was abducted and held captive for three hours.

In the first case on Monday, a 6-year-old girl who followed a man on a motorcycle was found unharmed in Wangsa Maju. But yesterday's incident is more worrying.Sharlinie Mohd Nasyar, 5, went missing in the morning after going to the playground with her elder sister Sharliena. The girls had told their mother they were going for religious classes. The playground, at PJS 2 in Taman Medan is some 200 metres away from their house.

The sisters were there about 11am and Sharlinie's disappearance was only realised some 40 minutes later when the older girl returned home.

Their mother housewife Suraya Ahmad said both her daughters left home with the elder girl riding a bicycle while Sharlinie followed her on foot.

Sharliena told her mother her sister went missing while they were passing through a back alley.

Suraya informed her wireman husband Mohd Nasyar Mat Hussain and they looked for their daughter in the neighbourhood for several hours before lodging a police report about 2pm.

Police had questioned Sharliena who could not say exactly where her younger sister went missing.

The family and relatives were at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters last night waiting for any news on the whereabouts of their youngest daughter. They have two other daughters.District police chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said they were investigating it as a missing person case.

Arjunaidi also released the photofit of a suspect who had on Monday abducted a 6-year-old girl in the neighbourhood.

The suspect had duped the girl into believing that he was taking her to see birds and cats. The suspect was said to be wearing a black jacket and riding a black motorcycle.

The girl was sent for a medical examination which later revealed that she was not sexually abused.

Arjunaidi said it was too early to link Sharlinie's disappearance to the suspect, although he did not discount the possibility that the suspect could have struck again."Our concern now is to find the missing girl," he said.

He urged those with information on Sharlinie's whereabouts, or on the suspect, to contact RakanCop at 03-21159999.
